Jane Seymour was born on February 15 1951 in Hillingdon, England as Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg and as the oldest child to John Frankenberg and Mieke Frankenberg - van Trigt. She has two younger sisters, Sally and Anne. Jane began training ballet at the age of three. At thirteen she made her professional debut with the London Festival Ballet. Later she went to the Arts Educational Schools In London to train dance, music and theatre. She suffered from knee injuries during her first performance with the famous Russian Kirov Ballet, putting an end to her ballet career. 'As a girl I was determined to become a dancer. The trouble was that I'm the wrong build. I have a long back and shorter legs, whereas ballerinas need the reverse. (..) I injured my cartilage in jazz dance and I had to give up ballet. It was only a matter of time anyway, because of my build, but I was devastated. Fortunately, going to the school I did, I was able to do more acting classes. Looking back, injuring my cartilage did me a big favour. It was probably the best thing that ever happened to me because it led to becoming an actress and everything that has come with it.' - Hello magazine July 15 2000 She changed her name in Jane Seymour because she thought Frankenberg sounded too much like Frankenstein, Frankfürter or Frankenburger. She first tried 'Joyce Franks' but that was said to be too common, then she wanted to try her mother's maiden name, but that was said to be unpronouncable, then her agent came up with Jane Seymour and it stayed that way. Jane Seymour was determined to make it as an actress and went to the US. Her breakthrough came with her role as Solitaire in the James Bond movie 'Live and Let die'. Over the years she won an Emmy (for Onassis) and two Golden Globes (for East of Eden and Dr. Quinn) and she has been nominated several times. Jane is involved in several charity organistations like Unicef, City Hearts, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Childhelp USA. She also paints and writes children's books (This One and That One) with her husband James Keach. She also has her own clothing line. James Keach (1948) is her fourth husband. They married May 15 1993. Her ex-husbands are: Michael Attenborough ('71-'73), Geoffrey 'Jeep' Planer ('77-'78) and David Flynn ('81-'92). Jane has four children: Katie Flynn (January 7 '82), Sean Flynn (July '85) and the twins John (named after her late father and her dear friend Johnny Cash) and Kristopher (named after her dear friend Christopher Reeve) Keach (November 30 1995). Her stepchildren are Kalen Keach and Jennifer Flynn. Jane resides in Malibu, California and in her 16th century manor 'St. Catherine's Court' near Bath, England. She started dancing at a young age and when she was thirteen she performed for the London Festival Ballet. After she enrolled in the Arts Educational Trust, that same year she became interested in acting. Her film debut was in "Oh, What A Lovely War" which gave her the exposure she needed to be noticed as an actress by a top agent in the United Kingdom. She also performed on BBC radio shows. It was while she was in the movie "Young Winston" did she attract the attention of top film producers. In 1973, she was in the James Bond movie "Live and Let Die" with actor Roger Moore. The character she played was the fortuneteller Solitaire. Miss Seymour also starred in the movies "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve, "Haunted Passion" and "East of Eden" to name a few. She is also known for portraying the doctor on the television series "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." She is also known for her work on the Broadway stage. In between producing, directing and acting in movies, Miss Seymour can be seen as an advertising spokesman on television commercials as for Gerber baby products as well as being the Honorary Chairperson for City Hearts, an organization that enriches the lives of abused children. She is currently married to her fourth husband, James Keach and has four children. Jane and her husband have collaborated on a series of books since the birth of their twin sons titled "This One and That One." A Multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Winner, Jane Seymour has proven her talents in virtually all avenues of the media. From the Broadway stage, motion pictures and television..., and now with her great success as a painter in water colors and oils, and co-authoring a series with husband James Keach. Seymour made history with her six season "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" series, blazing a trail for family-worthy programming to return to series television. The program fostered such a devoted and wide audience demand for fulfilling informative drama that parents could share and enjoy with their children both nationally and internationally. Seymour not only succeeded in making Saturday night a respectable series address again, but also effectively activated family audience to demand an alternative to violent and sexual programming. Most recently, the actress has starred in several highly rated television movies directed by her husband, James Keach, and filmed through their production company, Catfish Productions, culminating with a sequel to her series "Dr. Quinn: The Movie" which CBS aired for the May sweeps broadcast. Jane has also written on a series of exceedingly successful children's books entitled "This One and That One" inspired by their highly and delightfully altered life since the actress gave birth to their twins in late 1995. Co-authored with her husband and published by Putnam, the books transpose the Keach household into a family of cats whose lives are constantly energized by the antics of their toddler kitty twins, "this One That One". A television series based on the book is in development. Apart from her busy life of acting, producing, writing, etc., Jane is also a dedicated activist for a number of charities seeking to improve the desperate lot of many of the world's children. Actively involved in numerous charitable causes, and as International Ambassador, Jane works for Childhelp USA, a national organization dedicated to research, treatment and prevention of child abuse. One of her many honors includes an award for "Woman of the World", which honors Jane for her social and charitable achievements. Seymour is also the Chairperson for City Hearts, an organization that enriches the lives of abused children, inner city children and disadvantaged delinquent youths. This organization educates the children in performing arts including painting, dancing and acting. Her talents as a watercolor and sketch artist have enabled her to make a deal with the Discover Card company allowing her talents to raise money for The Make a Wish Foundation. She had also designed a special edition gift bottle of Korbel Champaign for a similar charity. Jane is currently a spokes figure for Clairol, an association which in part benefits her charitable commitments. Seymour and Keach reside in Malibu, and she owns a 15th Century historic manor in Bath, England which she is dedicated to preserving. FILMOGRAPHY Touching Wild Horses (2002) ....
